The Small School With A Big Heart
A family focused environment that puts the happiness and care of the child at the heart of all its decisions and processes
Quarndon Pre-school in Derby is well placed in a village setting, supported by a family feel community that has been running for over 40 years. The Children become part of a small family where they flourish in a safe and inclusive environment. The school operates with small numbers of children with a low teacher to child ratio. Many parents enjoy the flexibility of introducing their child into this warm environment at the age of two as an encouraging transition from nursery to pre-school and beyond. QPS supports the 15 funded hours, with the option of paying for extra hours before and after school enabling flexibility for new starters and younger siblings. The school opens for breakfast club at 7.30am and operates an after school club that closes at 6pm.
Quarndon Pre-school has an inbuilt ethos that puts the happiness and care of the child at the heart of all decisions and processes, whilst working within the curriculum guidelines to understand each child’s individual development needs. Communication is open where parents, carers, children, and teachers each have a voice to support fresh thinking and new ideas. QPS operates a varied play-based learning program which encourages the children to believe and respect each other as part of the school's “Golden Rules”. The management staff at the QPS each have over 25 years of experience working with young children and have a vested interest in seeing each child flourish and grow in confidence whilst they are part of the QPS family where learning is fun and fundamental to our success. We would welcome you to contact the Pre-school to arrange a visit to see the setting for yourself and get a feel for the culture and environment of our school.
