Quarndon pre-school and BASC Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am so happy to be able to email and publish our newsletter. It has been a very testing and worrying time for us all. I truly hope you and your families are all well. I am so happy to announce that the Pre-school and BASC will reopen on Thursday 3rd September.
Come September there will be a few changes to the way the pre-school and the BASC is operated. You will be receiving the parent guidance copy (Document 8) which will hopefully explain everything, please read the document carefully so you are aware of the procedures for drop off and pick up, the changes to the daily routine and the safety measures we are putting in place . You will be asked to sign a copy of this document on your child’s first session. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Fee’s
We normally look at our charges and increase our fee’s in September but with the current situation we have decided to keep the fee’s at the same rate. We will review the situation in January.
Snacks and dinners for QPS
At the moment we have decided not to offer in house hot dinners, we will review this over the weeks we are open, I will let you all know when we decide to offer this service again. While the pre-school was open for key workers, we introduced parents providing snack for their child. This could be just an extra piece of fruit. We found this worked very well and we would like to continue with you providing the snack.
Lockdown
The committee and I would like to thank The Curzon school for accommodating the pre-school and working together to provide care for the children of the key workers. Linda and Katy worked alongside the Curzon teachers to provide care. All the staff made them very welcome and secured those close working bonds.
Staffing
I would like to say a big thank you to Linda and Katy for continuing to work through the lockdown and allowing our key worker parents to attend work. Thanks also to Heather for joining them when the pre-school opened. They all worked so hard to keep QPS open.
I am sorry to inform you that Sue will no longer be with us in September. Sue has been with QPS for 2 years and The committee and my self would like to thank her for all her commitment and hard work she has given. We wish Sue the very best.
BASC
I will be emailing Document 8 which details the changes we are putting in place so we can operate the BASC safely and following the government guidelines. At present we will offer a limited selection for tea, this will help with the limited time we have available to prepare and serve tea, and to ensure higher than usual hygiene routines. Please let me know if you need any further information or clarification.
Committee
Our AGM will be held on Friday 11th September at 9.30 in the upper hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. Three of our current committee members will unfortunately have to step down and we are therefore looking for new members to join us. If you are interested in becoming involved, please come along to the AGM or drop me a message and I can give you more details.
Fundraising
We don’t have any fundraising events yet organised. We rely so much on our fundraising events to raise vital funds to buy everyday equipment like, paper, card, glue and other basic art and craft resources not to mention other equipment. We are always keen to hear if you have any idea’s for fundraising and we truly value your support. We will be holding fundraising events in the Autumn term so please keep a look out for the dates and details of the next event.
New Starters
We welcome a few new families to QPS and the BASC. If your child is attending QPS please can you make sure everything is clearly labelled with your child’s name, this does include water bottles and lunch box’s. Information on settling in visits will be in your parents’ guide (Document 8).
Availability
We have worked extremely hard to promote QPS through advertising in the local little book, leaflets, and our website. We always find though, the best way is through our parents spreading the word. If you know of anyone who is looking for a small and unique pre-school, please pass on our details or tell them about our website. Quarndonpreschool.org
